The puck for the new season has recently started for the NHL. Here is what to look for in the upcoming season.

The defending stanley cup champions, Colorado Avalanche, will look to be a contender and go back-to-back. They have let go some key players in Nazem Kadri, Darcy Kuemper, and Andre Burakovsky, but they have also had some new additions join the squad as well. They welcome goaltender Alexander Georgiev, this will create an entertaining battle between the pipes with Pavel Francouz for the number one spot.

Georgiev’s former team, the New York Rangers, are on the radar, after making it to the conference championship last season. The Rangers have an amazing future, they have the youngest team in the league with an average age of 26.54 years according to eliteprospects.com They have Vezina trophy winner Igor Shesterkin in the pipes, he holds a .935 save percentage which is best in the league. This will be a fun team to watch this season.

The Vegas Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history last season, the Golden Knights are in a decline after making a historic trade for superstar Jack Eichel. Jack Eichel herniated his neck 2 seasons ago, and has not been the same since. He is looking to make a comeback and help the Golden Knights return to the playoffs.

The Ottawa Senators have made a huge step in their rebuild this offseason, welcoming the additions of Alex DeBrincat, and Claude Giroux. The senators are making a push for the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been a disappointment in recent years, they have been top three cup favorites for the past 3 years and have not made it out of the first round for the past 18 years. The Maple Leafs have lost in game sevens the past five years, choking multiple series leads. This year, they are ranked third in odds to win the cup.

These are just some of the teams to keep your eye on this year. This season will be full of amazing talent. This year will be one of the most exciting, entertaining, and intense seasons in a while.
