WDA athlete of the year. BHS senior Bayla Weigel was titled west region cross country senior athlete of the year. BHS senior Parker Hintz and BHS cross country coaches, Janelle Olson and Scott Reichenberger, were also named WDA senior athlete and coaches of the year. “Its just pretty cool that youre honored with that, and people view you as one of those leaders,” Weigel said.

Coaching and navigating. BHS wrestling is very successful, with state champion titles each year. Because of this success, many students who do not live in the BHS boundary have submitterd transfer requests in order to be a part of this success. “We want southside feeder schools to be part of our program,” assistant principal and boys wrestling co-head coach Mark Lardy said. “I want to build the program.”

National title. The Capital Ice Chips have medaled at the last eight national competitions. This year, they scored high above all other teams and took first place. “It was really great to finally get that championship and be up there amongst all of these really huge large programs in the United States,” Capital Ice Chip coach Becky Gallion said.
