The amount of pros and cons states that CDs are the best form of music and vinyls are the worst form, but it does not quite seem that way. According to billboard.com, 43.46 million vinyls are sold and only 35.9 million CDs are sold each year. Meaning that statistically, vinyls seem to be better. Although vinyls seem to be harder to use and a bit annoying to set up, as well as being a little on the pricier side and becoming more and more dated everyday. People seem to be buying more each year. Vinyls originally stopped being popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s because CDs were climbing in sales, but CDs had a large decline in popularity with the invention of listening to music online, although CDs did not go out of style until much later when smart phones found a place in every household. The radio seems to have always been popular since its invention in the mid 1890s, and its use skyrocketed when it was introduced into motor vehicles in the 1920s when Chevrolet first decided to release a more expensive version of their previously popular vehicle, but this time with an installed radio. Once CDs died out again, online music picked up and has stayed a constant in many people’s lives since. More recently, vinyls have come back in style just like bell-bottom jeans, miniskirts and parachute pants. In the end it seems that there is no true winner for what is best to use, but there is a winner for what is easier and convenient as well as for what creates the best atmosphere and there is a sweet spot for a good burned CD in every millennial and gen X’ers heart.
