Many people love to celebrate the holidays with friends and family but sometimes the fun can be cut short due to school.
Halloween, which is a very popular holiday, is a time for kids and teens to spend time together whether it be trick or treating, watching a scary movie, having a party, or even just hanging out and chilling with friends. Most of the time, Halloween falls on the days Sunday through Thursday which results in school being the next day.
Although this is fun, most of the time, the fun can only last for a while. Other holidays such as May Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Veterans Day, all fall on weekdays during the school year. Many students have the stress of finishing assignments and activities, and can not enjoy their day off.
Another thing to talk about is the Superbowl, the greatest part of the NFL season. Although this is a fun and enjoyable thing to do with friends and family, it always falls on a Sunday night. With kickoff not even starting till 7:30 p.m. central time, and the game running till almost 12 a.m., students have to worry about school the following day, and not enjoying the fun of the Superbowl. Because the Superbowl is such a popular thing all around the world, and it is waited for each year, students should have the Monday after the Superbowl off from school.
Christmas is another thing to talk about, Although students get a long break away from school, it gets shorter and shorter each year. This year, students get a week and two days off of school for Christmas break.
In past years students have had up to almost two weeks off of school for break. Now, students have many random days off of school for staff development days. Instead of having these days off, students should be required to go to school those days, so they can have longer holiday breaks.
With having the day off after holidays, students can spend more time with their friends and family, and enjoy their time off without the stress of homework, and school in general.
All said and done, students should be able to enjoy their holiday breaks and not have to worry about school being the next day. Therefore, students should get the day off of school after a holiday.
