Hallways of high school are always a pain to get through- always busy and filled with students. Because the hallways are constantly busy, the flow of the hallways stays walking fast. Every student has a place to be. When slow walkers end up in front of another student, it becomes difficult for students to make it to their next class on time.
With only four minutes between classes and such a big campus, many students end up being late to class or not having enough time to settle in, due to the congested and slow pace of the hallways.
Students walking at a slow pace are either talking with friends that are passing by, standing in the middle of the hallway talking to a teacher or friend in another classroom, and some are just slow walkers in general. Students end up being annoyed, and have to walk around the person stopping the flow of traffic.
The speed limit on roads is essential to maintain the flow of traffic, just like high school hallways. If someone is on their phone at a red light, it can delay the whole flow of traffic when it turns green. The same goes for the hallways. If a student is distracted by their phone, they may tend to slow the pace of the hallways.
If construction is going on it is going to slow the flow of traffic down, this is exactly like groups of students in a circle that sit and talk in the middle of the hallway. They are like roadblocks in the hallways.
Another thing that annoys many students is the main stairs. Many students tend to take a set of side stairs in order to get to their classes quicker. Although this may seem like a longer route, it can be quicker due to the main stairs being congested with a bunch of students, many students tend to walk very slowly up the stairs or even mess around on them which slows the pace down a lot.
Slow walkers can be annoying and hard to deal with, and they should pick up the pace when walking in the hallways and up the stairs. Instead of messing around with friends, on your phone or just walking slow in general, pick up the pace a little bit or just make it so others can pass by.
