Prior to 2020, When we had snow days, it would just mean Students had the day off and students would have to come later in the year and make the school day up.
After 2020, when schools have snow days, it is all online and Students can do classes right from home without the need for a snow day.
Let’s find out if snow days are better or are virtual days better for students
They both have their ups and downs, some of the ups to the virtual snow days is
Students can use our computers and still be able to have school and work at their own pace, and not have to come in summer to make the day up.
The downside of virtual snow days is some kids may not choose to do it, or skip the work that is assigned to them. Since they are at home, this can cause a big problem, especially when it comes to attendance or grades, and some students may not have internet, which then would be an exception, and they could make it up when they get back to school.
Some of the ups to a snow day- No Virtual learning, if it’s just a free day.
Some of the downs, if students have to come and make the day up, this can be worse especially if there is no school for 4 or even 5 days of school because of the weather, and then Students have to come in June and make those days up.
Virtual snow days win, they are much better and Students can still have school, without the need to make it up later in the year, and Students can all work at their own pace, Getting all the homework or tests done for classes.
