Simply getting fresh air and stretching one’s legs will improve sleep that may have been taken away from the time spent looking at a television or cell phone.
Reading is another great resource if one is in need of a brain break. Reading can introduce individuals to worlds and points of view they have not experienced before, without the negativity that surrounds social media.
So much of daily lives now are centered around technology. People do not have to leave the house anymore to see friends and family or to work. With everything leaning towards virtual communication, connection is lost.
Take this day to go out with friends or visit with family. Whether that be getting a cup of coffee and filling each other in on their lives or visiting at one’s house, it is an opportunity to step back from technology and speak to others face to face.
With lots of time spent on screens, little everyday tasks or joys are forgotten. Things like cleaning out one’s closet and reorganizing or reading the large pile of books that have been shoved to the side of the room are just a few examples of all that can get done when screens are out of the picture.
