Bismarck High School teacher and head soccer coach Ricardo Pierre-Louis is discontinuing his coaching position in the boy’s BHS soccer program.
As a husband and father, Pierre-Louis coaches Magic Soccer, teaches four different classes and advises DECA. Because of his busy schedule, assistant BHS soccer coach, Micheal Cruz, will be taking the head-coach position this upcoming fall.
“I think it will be an easy transition for the new coach,” Pierre-Louis says. “He will be coaching at a good school with a good culture.”
After 4 years of assistant coaching, Cruz is excited to take on a bigger role. Cruz is qualified to lead the Demons through any opportunities or struggles they might experience during the season.
“My desire to help the program and my passion for soccer is huge,” Cruz says.
In hopes of qualifying for state and increasing last season’s winning percentage, Cruz is prioritizing an effective off-season. The off-season will give the team a chance to work on fitness and tactics early on.
“I have to adapt to my team’s strengths and weaknesses,” Cruz says. “Maximizing the athletes’ potential is my goal.”
With support from the athletes, their parents and his coaching staff, Cruz is confident they will manage to have a good season this upcoming fall.
“People will always make the difference,” Cruz says,“I honestly feel like a family with the BHS program.”
