On September 16th of this year, James “Jimmy” Donaldson, widely known as Mr. Beast, announced a collaboration with Logan Paul and Olajide ‘KSI’ Olatunji. These three popular influencers created a new boxed lunch brand called Lunchly. The product was made to rival the already popular Lunchables.
Similar to Lunchables, there are three variations of Lunchly boxes: Turkey Stack ‘ems, crackers, turkey, and cheese made to stack into a small sandwich, The Pizza, three mini pizza crusts with a small packet of pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperonis to assemble 3 small pizzas, Fiesta Nachos, tiny corn tortilla chips with melted cheese and salsa to dip in. The boxes also include a Prime Hydration energy drink from Logan Paul and KSI and a Feastable from Mr. Beast.
The target audience for this product is children, despite the fact that none of the creators’ content is aimed towards children. This has sparked controversy amongst fans, parents, and everyone else in the brand loop. One popular content creator Daniel “DanTDM” Middleton claims the three are only after money, and have little to no regard for the health and well-being of the kids they’re advertising to. All three creators quickly responded to the accusations, each in a unique manner.
Despite all the criticism Lunchly received upon its reveal, the three went on to showcase the differences between Lunchables and Lunchly, claiming they have an unbiased opinion. There are three main differences pointed out between the two products. Lunchly has 80 fewer calories than Lunchables, this means that either Lunchly is a bit healthier than Lunchables or there is less food in the box than a Lunchable. Lunchly has 60% less sugar than Lunchables. While this may be true, it is because Lunchly has more electrolytes than Lunchables, though it is a marketing tactic used by other brands like Gatorade. There is a copious amount of sodium (salt) in Lunchly, and sodium is classified as an electrolyte. Electrolytes are said to hydrate and recharge, but they aren’t necessary for people who aren’t that active, especially in large amounts like what is found in Lunchly and Prime.
Even though there has been rumor of a possible recall, this is simply not true. The brand’s co-owner Logan Paul recently released a fact check video where he dismissed the rumors of Lunchly being recalled or discontinued.
