Eating turkey should not be the most common tradition on Thanksgiving. Turkey is overrated. A holiday celebrated by feasting should include foods that are much better tasting than a turkey. Out of all the meat options, turkey should not be the first. It’s time to change tradition.
Turkey is very dry and takes a lot of time to cook, depending on the way people are preparing it, whereas ham is quicker to cook. Ham is not the only other option, however. There are various other meats that are easier to make and are more time efficient. People spend too much time on a bird that doesn’t taste good. Turkey is just boring and we need to start spicing up Thanksgiving.
Some more cons about this atrocious entree is that it’s expensive and carries pathogens. Clostridium perfringens, campylobacter and Salmonella are all infections we risk getting when we eat a turkey. Assuming the HiHerald audience has no idea what those words mean, they are icky infections not worth getting. Turkey just isn’t worth the hassle, risk or money. Turkey is irrelevant, no one eats turkey outside of Thanksgiving. That should say a lot.
