With the first semester ending, students can start saying their goodbyes to a few particular seniors. Addison Massey is one of the select few who will graduate a semester early from Bismarck High School. If a senior chooses to accumulate all the necessary credits before the second semester of their senior year, they are eligible to graduate early. Massey decided to finish high school early so she could prepare for her collegiate sport this following spring.
“Stay consistent and find a healthy balance for schooling and sports that works best for you, work hard,” Massey said.
Massey is going to the University of Mary to study biology and play midfield for soccer. The coaching staff at Mary was in contact with Massey as soon as her recruiting portal opened up, and she was offered a scholarship.
Massey took advantage of her high school years by taking classes like English, Anatomy, Sociology, Psychology, Speech, and Probability and Statistics, which would help her accumulate college credits that she could easily transfer to any in-state school.
“I really liked the soccer program/people. Also, I get to stay local and the campus is beautiful,” Massey said.
Not everybody knows that they can graduate early. So when they find out it could be later on in their high school career. Massey did not plan on it until about May of her Junior year. She had heard about being able to graduate early and wanted to see if she would even be able to at that part in school. When she found out she would be able to, she decided that that is the path she would take to pursue her soccer career.
“My family has been the biggest support system through this all, they are always supportive of my decisions and are happy for me and my future,” Massey said. “My coaches also played a big role, they made me out to be the player I am today and were a great help to develop me to get to this point.”
In the act. Addison Massey played one of her last games. Massey celebrates with her team. “I want to get a good head start on college and I am really excited for the soccer part of this opportunity.”
