A performance to remember. Bismarck High School has carried on the tradition of O Holy Night at their December concert. This is a tradition that will continue for years to come. “I love having something that is such a longstanding tradition,” Bismarck High School Choir Director Brian Saylor said.

Tuning in. Once a week, BHS global studies and AP United States history teacher Chris Cavanaugh enters a Zoom meeting with three friends to record a YouTube video-style podcast. The podcast covers topics pertaining to a program that guides students through constitutional competitions. “We dont come out and answer the series of questions that were discussing, but were talking about the history and the application,” Cavanaugh said. “This is education, the way it should happen.”

The struggle to find a balance. Students do not often look forward to reading the books that they are expected to read. Teachers do their best to find a balance between student’s interests and the reading that is required. “Reading stories (fiction or not), gives us a way to understand ourselves and those around us, in experiences and settings that we might never experience otherwise,” Bismarck High School English teacher Kirsten Nies said.
