Children growing up in the late aughts are not getting to experience the early 2000s. Everything in the late 2000s is so negative. Kids growing up in the late 2000s have so many negative influences around them. Social media, cyberbullying, and the stress of fitting in as an individual are many things that kids have to worry about. 

During the early 2000s, kids did not have to worry about social media and cyberbullying due to the fact that phones were not popular among the young crowd at the time and social media was just being introduced. Many kids had nothing but a landline to call their friends on, and if they were lucky enough, they had an I Pod which had just been released in 2001. 

With technology becoming more and more advanced everyday, kids growing up in the late 2000s have many high tech devices that allow them to talk to people around the world. This can be a good thing but also a very bad thing. Kids are able to bully someone with just their 

phone even if they know them or not. 

Another thing to talk about is unreliable news. Many kids do not know what is real and what is fake when it comes to posting on social media, so if one kid says something that is not true about another kid and posts it on social media for everyone to see it can lead to fake or untrue news spreading. This can cause a lot of trouble and even negatively impact a person’s reputation. 

Another thing kids have to worry about growing up in the late 2000s is fitting in, many kids go out of their way to try and fit in, which results in them not being their true self. Many kids are scared to be different and think that they need to be wearing the perfect outfit, doing the things everyone else is doing, having the things everyone else has, and many other things, just to fit into today’s society. 

Many kids go out of their way to buy certain things that are trendy at the moment, but in reality, it is something that they may or may not have any interest in, they are just afraid of not fitting in. For example, in 2017 a toy was released called the fidget spinner, and they were the new best thing. This led to many kids beginning to buy a fidget spinner, or even multiple, and many would buy it just to fit in with their peers. 

Although the late 2000s have so many more advanced things for children to use, the result of these things have led to many negative effects which puts the early 2000s far ahead of the late 2000s in almost every aspect.
