A new Fizzily location is opening up in South Bismarck. The shop’s current and only location is up North, on Coleman Street, where they sell customized sodas and popcorn. Their second location is projected to open before summer and will be located on Expressway, near Cashwise grocers.
The family-owned business is not only expanding its number of locations but its square footage as well. The current location is roughly only 700 square feet, making it overcrowded and difficult to provide indoor seating. However, the new location will be close to 2500 square feet, providing much more room for storage, seating and functionality.
“It’s a lot bigger, and that’s a lot of why we were looking for a second location,” says Fizzily owner Kevin Cavanag.
Mariah Cavanag, daughter of Kevin Cavanag and co-owner of Fizzily, expresses her excitement for the new location because of the positive experiences the company is able to provide.
“When people come in here, it’s a good environment,” Mariah continues, “I always try to say when I’m training people, ‘either people are coming to us because they’re having a good day and they want to treat themselves, or they’re trying to make their day better by treating themselves.’ So we get the chance to make someone’s day better, so it’s a really fun job for that reason.”
Fizzilys first location opened up in November of 2019 after Mariah’s little sister had thought up the idea for a soda shop.
“She kind of just talked him (Kevin) into it, and we went for it,” Mariah said.
So, after 5 years of successful soda-selling, the Cavanags knew they wanted to expand. For the last two years, they’ve been searching for the right location.
“Finding a place was the hardest,” Kevin said. “Working with the city was difficult to get a drive-through. That was harder than we thought it was gonna be.”
However, after persistence and patience, the Kavangs are optimistic that the new location will be ready for opening in 2-3 months. Their hopes are to keep serving the Bismarck community by offering better accessibility.
“We just want to try to provide affordable treats for people, and there’s a lot of the population that lives down south, and we know people drive hard to come get this, which we appreciate, and that has given us the opportunity to expand,” Mariah said. “So we want to keep bringing it to people who enjoy what we have to serve.”
