Understanding success. Sometimes, BHS junior Mackenzie Swenson can feel like she is not deserving of praise when it is compared to someone else’s success. However, winning the Free Spirit award made her realize how skilled she must be at journalism since only one person per state can win. “I don’t mean to imply that being a Free Spirit scholar makes me feel superior, but it has lightened the load of years of self-doubt,” Swenson said.

Bringing the seniors together. BHS senior Natalie Schuh continues to add to the Instagram page as more people wish to be represented. She felt that during a time of isolation, students could still connect with each other through this page. “I thought since we weren’t at school, it’d be cool to recognize my classmates since no one really knew much about us from school,” Schuh said.

Continued practice. Several cars come to BHS every day to receive the free meals. The set up for this service has been fairly similar to what BHS normally does for families in the summer. “We were already qualified to operate and serve free meals,” Wagner said.
