For the Cross. Retiring from BHS, Band Director Peske has been strongly motivated in his musical career by faith. He has been involved in the Bismarck Public School System for over three decades. “My favorite memory is when we performed Hommage this year along with the choir and orchestra. The way he smiled through the whole thing as if he dedicated his whole life to this moment,” Senior Jacksen Welle said.

RADD. The group runs three days per week and trains for the upcoming Santa Run. The Santa Run has been going strong since 2014. "The purpose of the Santa Run is to raise awareness of addiction issues," Judge Dave Reich said.

Staying informed. Principle David Wisthoff has seen the effects of the precaution measures and is eager to use these to reopen schools. This past spring, BHS was completely online and excluded from in-person learning. “If we come back full go, with the current interpretation that masks will be worn when 6 foot distancing can't be maintained, you will most likely have to wear those all day,” Wisthoff said.

Leading the band. The sacrifices made due to COVID-19 include excluding the band from parts of the fall season. BHS Band Director Robert Peske has conducted the band for decades and understands the reason behind prohibiting pep band. “While trying to stay within the guidelines the Health Department sets out, it can be hard to please everyone,” Peske said.

Suspended. All spring sports have been cancelled by the NDHSAA. This includes facilities like the Community Bowl, which has hosted the state track meet for decades. "It all comes down to safety, and what level of risk people are comfortable with," Kinnischtzke said.
